"Apocalipse" is a Brazilian telenovela written by Vivian de Oliveira for Rede Record. It's an original story and it started airing on November 21, 2017. The main stars are Igor Rickli and Juliana Knust.
Synopsis
The first phase of Apocalypse tells the story of four young people in the 1980s who choose New York as a university destination. Alan, an American, Susana, a Brazilian, Adriano, an Italian and Deborah, an Israeli, become great friends. Alan and Susana end up building a complicated love story. Adriano and Debora get married in a troubled moment, and they live an unhappy relationship.
The second phase of the Apocalyps begins in 1996, showing the return of couples to Brazil. Debora, however, is envious of Susana, since her relationship with Adrian is a lie. At this time, Alan and Susana have their first child, Benjamin, as well as Adriano and Deborah and little Ricardo. They meet again, but the friendship of the past seems to have stayed in the past and hasn't moved on. During the second phase, several apocalyptic prophecies promise to take place in various cities around the world, in Rio de Janeiro, Rome, Jerusalem and New York - the November 11 attack will be addressed.
In the third and final phase, the apocalyptic plot narrates the events of the present day. The characters, therefore, end up watching the biblical prophecies if fulfilling even with the arrival of the Antichrist Ricardo, who will fight to dominate the world. In the course, Ricardo will be empowered by Benjamin's scientific discoveries, who became a great scientist and married Zoe.
People of the past who have committed terrible acts may surprise the public by accepting Christ, while "fallen" Christians prefer to worship the devil.
Trivia
- Leonardo Vieira and Miriam Freeland were considered for the main roles, but both declined the offer after their contracts weren't renewed by Rede Record. They were replaced with Igor Rickli and Juliana Knust.
- Beth Goulart was initially confirmed in the role of Lia. However, due to her age (she was deemed too young to play Mônica Torres' mother), she was replaced with actress Lucinha Lins.
- Guilherme Winter was chosen at he main lead and was confirmed in the role up to October 2017 when he was replaced with actor Igor Rickli. Winter was transferred to another Record telenovela, Rosa Choque, where he played the main villain.
